Experience

My career working with families spans over 40 years. During this time I have worked for local authorities, the voluntary sector and in training & further education. This experience led me on my journey to formally train as a Counsellor.

I have supported individuals & families experiencing the impact of trauma and working to achieve change in their lives.

I have experience working with adults & young people who have experienced difficulties with relationships, feelings of anger, low mood, bereavement and loss, trauma, abuse, bullying & feelings of anxiety.

I understand that  studying & work can contribute to stress & anxiety levels. I have supported individuals to look at work and life's demands, working towards a better work-life balance.

Many people struggle with feelings of low self esteem, of not feeling good enough, feeling the need to prove themselves, of constantly feeling the need to be on their guard, being on 'edge'.

Past experiences can impact upon people’s current lives leading to issues such as depression, anxiety, substance misuse, compulsive eating, disturbed sleep patterns, over thinking and poor motivation. Talking therapy can help many people dealing with those issues.

I work with adults as a Counsellor in a G.P surgery and have experience in the voluntary sector  as well as private practice.
